  • Comments: Overall awesome race - anyone in the NYC area should take part in this one. Free pancakes after the race, awesome trophy, push up contest, you name it. The race coordinator Joe Pantanella made sure everyone knew the race was supposed to be "fun" and had a great style/sense of humor.

  • Comments: One of the best-organized races I've ever done (only my second multi-sport, but I've done lots of running races). Everybody involved did a great job and seemed to be having lots of fun.

  • Comments: I had very low expectations for this race but it was better than expected. A perfect weather day with a calm bay did not hurt either. The race director has a lot of great positive energy.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed this race and will be doing it again next year if possible. I don't remember passing many people in my AG as I was trying to look at there legs. I think I am not fast enough to be with the front pack but faster than the back pack so I kind of race in no mans land in my AG. I am however feeling very optimistic about my future in triathlon

  • Comments: this race has the potential to be a great race, it's fairly well run and the volunteers are pretty good. They need to figure out what happened during the swim and fix the road.

  • Comments: Very well organized event. Road conditions were the only issue but not the RD's fault. Will do it again.

  • Comments: I have nothing to compare this race too as it was my first. However, to me, it seemed well organized. I think the course was perfect for my first race, flat! It also helped me to understand transition better by actually doing it along with understanding how to better pace myself. It was a learning tool and I learned I need to focus more on my run in particular and hard efforts on bike.

  • Comments: Great Race - Very organized. Joe P is a fun RD! I would recommend this as a warm up, first race, etc. Anyone with more experience might not find it challenging.

  • Comments: First time I had done this race and I was really impressed by the organization. I would thoroughly recommend this to people who have never competed in a tri before. The RD was really good about explaining things to the beginners. The swim is very close to shore the entire race and there were plenty of kayakers / lifeguards, etc which is great for nervous swimmers. The bike leg, has very clearly explained lanes which stop beginners / slow riders getting in dangerous positions with fast cyclists. Overall fun race.

  • Comments: i loved this race and had good fun doing it with 10-15 team mates, but what followed sort of ruined it for me. it turns out i won my division, but didn't know for sure because i vanished from the results. it was like my entire day's worth of efforts (train-bike-ferry-train-bike-tri-etc.) was invalidated, to say nothing of being robbed of my first win. evidently because of a race management mistake, i was disqualified. the results company half "re-instated" me after the fact (in the overall results, but not the awards), but it was a "buzz-kill". and the race management simply e-mailed me my overall finish place, a number and no more in the way of explanation or anything.

  • Comments: Very solid race. Lots of fun - despite being on Staten Island (much more difficult to get to than I thought it would be when signing up). Safe course, very well planned. Worst race t-shirt ever. 99% cotton/1% polyester ($80 for a sprint and not even a tech t-shirt), and it's a (pardon my french) wife beater! Oh well. Nicely done, GBR.

  • Comments: This is a good local race, and probably the only real tri in New York City that's mostly local people, as opposed to the NYC Tri, which draws people from all over the US. This is my second year doing this race, and I could see doing it again. It's easy to get to (if you live in Brooklyn and have a car), and reasonably priced. Cons are that there aren't enough drink stations on the run, and that it has, hands-down, the ugliest race t-shirt in America.

  • Comments: I enjoyed this race tremendously. I loved the run back on the Boardwalk. I liked the feeling that you were "just out for a workout" and working out with all the other locals walking and running on the Boardwalk. This is a race that I would do again next year!

  • Comments: I trained very hard for this race and really wanted to place. It's a shame a USAT offical gave me this penalty when I really was just zooming along. Looooooong wait for the start of the sprint.

  • Comments: A pretty good no-frills local race. Making the people in the sprint get there 3 hours before the start was silly and could have been planned better. Still, it's convenient, cheap and a good course, so I'd probably do it again.
