OK admit it people. Who still has the IM bike number stuck somewhere on their bike.

What?! I just forgot - honest. In the midst of putting away MY IRONMAN FINISHER GEAR I just forgot. (Heh heh).

I actually found that article and bookmarked it because it was so hilarious.

What, whoooo meeee?

I do try to spare those who don't ask how my training is going, or those who aren't close friends.

Everyone else is prey.

Eventually people will stop asking "How are YOU doing?" and it will become "How's the training?"

Ha! That happens to me all the time now. ... and what's with all the IM finishing pictures as avatars? Oh wait ... Doh!

Glad to see I am right on track, only 9 months, 29 days, 15 hours, and 28 minutes left to use pre-race bragging. Then, I will move into the post-race bragging phase. Nevermind, I have to go train. Did I mention I am training for an Ironman?

I'm assuming that if it's a 1/2 then all the times are cut by half?

I hope I'm right - I won't have time to check back because I'm training for a 1/2 Ironman...

I'm letting all of you, as I've let my friends and family know already, that I will be taking a family vacation in Lake George in July solely so that we can end the vacation with a drive up to Lake Placid to sign-up for IMUSA 2010.  So I'd like to make an addendum and I'd like to add -- Pre-Sign Up Phase bragging:   Effective last August, I have and will continue to be informing everyone, including my postmaster's Great Aunt, the bag boy at the checkout, and people waiting at the bus stop down the block from my work, and not excluding my mother and wife's co-workers friends and family, that I will be signing up this July to compete in an Ironman the following year.  The two or three HIM's I'm doing this year, all prep for the big dance, the event humonguouso, my first Ironman ...the Olympic Oval of all Olympic Ovals in the known universe, I---r---o---n---m---a---n  "Born in the beautifull U S of A" ... introooduuuucing (cue the drums and epic beginning theme music from Superman dunt dunt dunt dunt, raise volume)... the epic New York beast of the East 140.6 miler Ironman Lake Placid 2010... WHICH I WILL BE RACING!

Seriously, I don't ever mention triathlon unless someone asks me, and then I just vaguely say yay I swim, bike and run -- it's good exercise.  The few times I've told people how much I train and how many races I did last year, I often gotten responses like "Are you trying to kill yourself?"  or "Why would you want to do that to yourself?"   Oh well.

So having the M Dot as a screensaver and erasing the pictures of my kids is wrong? And yes, my IMLP top tube sticker is still on- and will stay on...

I have done 2 Ironman races, the last in Arizona last April (sticker is STILL on bike) and I have no plans to do another IM but I am still reading the Iron Distance forums, hanging out with other Ironman finishers/in training, and bring up in conversation with anyone.  It never ends!

I have reached a new high/low in that I now advise complete strangers not only how my last training run went but I also advise them when I miss a workout and how guilty it makes me feel and how I am such a bad bad boy for missing it but how really it is okay because I am listening to my body and it is telling me that I need an unscheduled rest day because that is what you call it not that I don't have scheduled rest days but this past one was unscheduled but that yeah I am going to have to make up for it and probably going to go harder tommorow and I will be able to go harder because I was smart and took this unscheduled rest day.

My friends must hate me, and I am only training for a 70.3 right now.

Hmm. 5 of my last 7 Facebook statuses included at least one of the following: "ironman," "triathlon" or "swim/bike/run".

(Did you know "Todd is now officially registered for his 1st ironman triathlon - August 1 (gulp!)"?)

Hope to join the bragging club next year.  Did my first Tri this year.  Got my first century 118 miler October 10,  Swim Meet October 11, and the Rock And Roll Las Vegas Marathon in December here in Vegas.

All three disciplines seperately, and then Silverman next year to put them all together.

I know I'm really pushing the pre-race bragging rights.  But just thought I'd mention it.

The problem is, I work at a Police Station and I'm not a cop.  I'm a computer guy.  Any bragging any non cop does that proves they can do something better than the cops will be served with extreme scrutiny and they will mock said person when he's not around.  Never mind that I can outrun, outswim, and outbike 96% of them.

However, everyone else gets the IM treatment 24/7...

Saw a guy with a week old number on his bike once. It was from an Oly.

The asking about your training bit is great. I try not to bore the people I work with to death about training and triathlon talk, but it's hard not to have it come up in conversation at some point.

A few weeks ago, about 6 of us went to DC for a trade show. We all got there Monday around noon and then had an event on the show floor that started at 7 pm. When I showed up at our booth, one of the guys asked me how the fitness center was. I said it was actually pretty nice, but paused.
"How did you know I'd already been to the fitness center?"
He looked at me like it was the most obvious thing in the world, "Um, because it's you."
