  • Comments: Almost a completely unsupported race. No water until halfway on the run. The aid station had water, and energy gels. Why energy gels on the last 1.5 mile, and on the entire downhill

  • Comments: Like I said, I think an experienced tri person will have more to say. I rated it good due to the weather and my great experience. Didnt' hang around long, but the town is a great place to stay and have fun afterwards.

  • Comments: The swim was disappointing after training so hard for it. Way to short and crowded. I felt like it was an excuse not to lay out the right length course. Transition security was non-existent and I was concerned my bike could "walk" and with transition open there were quite a few people just hanging around which could cause delays. Sweatshirt was pretty basic and what's with BROWN!

  • Comments: no volunteers on the bike course, nobody directing traffic at turns. swim start was chaotic with the longer races having to run thru the later waves of people standing on the beach. 3 foot wide coned area to bike in with 3000 of your buddies. post race food sucked (for the cost of the entry i'm sorry, i do expect better) and the awards for age groupers (for the sprint) were the same for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. again, sorry but for the entry fee i do expect better. this is my second race put on by this outfit and if it werent for the other sponsors at the other one i wouldnt have done this one. i will not do another race by this promotion again. absolutely terrible.

  • Comments: Quite possibly the worst race shirt ever! Why even bother? How about don't include crappy prison issue sweatshirts and lower the cost of the race. Will probably see lots of homeless guys in Chicago eventually wearing these things...Great advertisement???!!!

  • Comments: Only my second tri and my first was at LITH in June who put on a great race. Happy with my time and new bike, not used to free for all transition areas. Competitors were great but the event seemed a bit unorganized.

  • Comments: The course saves this race. Everything else is frustrating. I know some boycott it, but there were close to 1000 people there, so that's not exactly working. I wish it were run in a more professional way (like if the course talk is supposed to be at 8pm, don't start it at 730; don't let transition turn into a free for all; have better markings on the bike; measure correctly, etc), because the organization doesn't do the venue justice. Fontana is so heartachingly beautiful. Sigh.

  • Comments: The maps could be much better. The directions to the packet pickup place could be better. I never figured out where the transition area was until I watched other people going there. The transition area was a free-for-all, with racking not organized by heat. This was only my second triathlon--the other was four years ago--but I thought the Stoneman Tri in Springfield, IL, was much better run.

  • Comments: Was hoping to be under 1:35, but I'll take what I got. I DON'T ever do hills running, and I know that hurt me here. I swear, people in Wisconsin have such an advantage over us Chicago folk...I just need to make more trips up north for training, and I REALLY think that will help! People talked about how much this race blows because of the RD, but for the sprint, I don't think it was too bad...I may do this again...we'll see!

  • Comments: Being my first triathlon I didn't have many expectations going in and just wanted to have fun. I definitely had fun and got to meet a few people. I was happy about my results and I am already looking at the schedule for the next one. This race was a lot more than a race for me. I lost 120 pounds in 7 months for me to get to where I am today. If I hadn't lost the weight I would have never ran this triathlon. I am looking forward to the next one.

  • Comments: I have to say that this was my best race ever (I've done 5 tri's in 3 years.) This race course has to be one of the best in the midwest for sure. However, the race staff is generally rude and there was so little description about the sprint swim that I've never heard so many conversations start with "I think we're supposed to...."They can do better with the swim but overall, I have to say, I'll do it again. If you do this race, I would recommend staying at The Abbey and making a weekend out of it. Also make sure you get to the transition area early (5am) its first come first serve so you'll end up with your bike on the grass or perched up against a trashcan if you're late.

  • Comments: The race could have been a little more organized and the swim course needed to be explained much better than it was. The registration and packet pick-up should have more workers as it took sometime to get everything. Otherwise it was well done.

  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: Too many levels of competition make it hard to organize. Transition area is not very secure. Transition area is crowded with people and difficult for all the athletes especially those doing longer segments coming in when others are finished and leaving. Bike in and out is adjacent to active road and none of the roads were closed down. Automobile traffic using the roads at the same time the race is going on was kind of dangerous.

  • Comments: The guy making announcements was a bit of a fool (enough with the cowbell, don't ring it while you're talking!) and didn't run the awards ceremony very well. But overall it was fairly well organized. They just need to not change the swim course on us 30 times, mark the bike course better, put a water station at the top of that hill, and give someone else the microphone.

  • Comments: It was a good race for me, considering my level of training and ability. I did well on the swim and run, and did not expect much on the bike. It was somewhat typical for a Lake Geneva race with some strange things such as the short swim, but I have to say it is a beautiful town and a challenging course. My expectations were not that high because of past complaints about Lake Geneva, and they were exceeded. The races started close to on time and the bike course was well marked. I enjoyed it.

  • Comments: 45 Minutes late starting. 50 minute line for packet-pick-up on Friday night. Bad Transition area. Horrible "bike-in/bike-out" area. Toooo may races going on at one time...they need to get rid of the super-sprint and relays.

  • Comments: This was my first Triathlon so it hard to say how it compares to others. I had heard some not so kind things about this race, and all I can say is if this is bad then I can't wait to see good, I had a blast and love my new sport, though the course was probably a bit challenging on the run, I didn't mind.
